Dr. Spudis brings over two decades of hands-on experience in the retail and manufacturing sectors, where he has consistently driven transformative results. As President and CEO of Metro Mattress Corporation from 2019 to 2024, he led a team of over 300 employees across five states, achieving remarkable milestones including a 110% year-over-year revenue increase, a 13% gross margin improvement in under 12 months, and an aggressive expansion from 47 to 70 retail locations in just 18 months. His strategic acumen shone through in navigating complex transitions, such as implementing the STORIS retail management software system, while fostering a culture of collaboration, empowerment, and continuous improvement through comprehensive leadership training programs.
Prior to his CEO role, Dr. Spudis excelled as a Senior Sales Representative at Pennsylvania Bedding from 2002 to 2019, managing a vast territory with over 1,100 retail locations across seven states. There, he boosted company sales revenue by more than 10% annually and crafted compelling advertising campaigns that increased store foot traffic by 50%. His expertise spans negotiation, market planning, advertising, sales, sales operations, and supply chain management—skills honed in the fast-paced world of manufacturing and retail.
A lifelong learner, Dr. Spudis holds an Executive Doctorate of Business Administration (DBA) from Temple University’s Fox School of Business, with a focus on Marketing and Management. His dissertation explored “Building New Innovation Capabilities through Knowledge Creation and Strategic Alliances in Healthcare Research and Development,” reflecting his innovative mindset and ability to apply cross-industry insights. He also earned an MBA from Marywood University and a Bachelor’s in Business and Marketing from the University of Scranton.
